Senior Data Quality Engineer
Job Description
The Chief Directorate Department at Emirates Airlines drives strategic planning, operational excellence, and innovation.
As a Senior Data Quality & Automation Engineer, you will work autonomously within a cross-functional team in Enterprise Data & Analytics, designing and implementing data quality frameworks, automated testing, and supporting analytics solutions across Emirates Airlines and the Emirates Group. This role combines hands-on technical contributions with quality assurance, automation, and enterprise data governance.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with product owners, analysts, engineers, and architects to refine requirements and acceptance tests.
Build automated tests and jobs across all stages of the data pipeline.
Develop and enhance data quality rules and platforms for pipeline observability.
Conduct data analysis: source system identification, profiling, metadata collection, and source-to-target mapping.
Support CI/CD pipelines with automated checks for ETL/ELT job validation.
Debug complex issues and follow design documents independently.
Maintain data inventories, registries, and metadata following governance standards.
Provide guidance and support for technical analytics solutions and products.
Requirements
Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) in Computer Science, Computational Mathematics, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering.
2+ years of Data Engineering experience with a focus on quality & automation.
2+ years of testing, automation, and support experience in analytics applications (Data Lake, Data Warehouse) preferably on Big Data stack and Microsoft Azure.
Skilled in Spark, Hadoop, Airflow, Nifi, Azure (ADLS, Databricks, Data Factory), SQL, Python or Scala.
Experienced in functional, performance, and security testing for pipelines and jobs.
Strong analytical skills and ability to drive quality independently.
Team player, accountable, self-starter, and curious about emerging technologies.
Exposure to airline industry data pipelines is a plus.
Knowledge of BI, Data Warehousing, or Data Science is beneficial.
Key Tools/Technologies: Spark, Hadoop (HDFS, Hive, HBase, Oozie), Airflow, Apache Nifi, Azure, Snowflake, MicroStrategy, Power BI, Spark Streaming, SnapLogic, TIBCO, Kafka, CI/CD tools (GIT, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Kubernetes, Docker).
